ERNESTO REATEGUI

Biography

Ernesto Reategui
Artistic Vision

"My work investigates the intersections of ancient symbolism and future-oriented concepts, creating a visual dialogue between our ancestral past and a technologically driven future."

Born in Lima, Peru, in 1982, Ernesto Reategui is a painter and digital draftsman whose work bridges the gap between pre-Columbian heritage and the digital age.

He began his artistic training in the late 1990s in private studios and later pursued university studies with a focus on oil painting. This classical foundation remains the cornerstone of his current practice, allowing him to tackle complex themes with technical mastery. Driven by a strong interest in pre-Columbian cultures, he undertook several research trips to Peru, Mexico, and the United States. At the same time, the rise of digital technologies led him to explore practices related to graphic drawing and 3D animation, creating a unique hybrid visual language. Based in Montreal since 2013, where he completed studies in industrial design, he has developed a pictorial practice that brings ancient symbolic heritages into dialogue with contemporary technological issues. His work has been presented in various cultural centers and exhibition venues across Quebec, establishing him as a distinctive voice in the contemporary art scene.
